Ahhh...there IS a God!

After waiting for 4 hours yesterday at Camp WannaFone, in Flower Mound, TX, the heavens opened and light shown across the earth. Sounds good, but no cigar eh? In all actuality, the skies opened during the last hour of the wait and rain poured forth upon the minions awaiting the arrival of Apple's latest toy.

My nephew and I were in line from 2pm until the zero-hour. The wait was well worth the time spent. The iPhone is the most amazing creature that Apple has introduced in quite some time. The phone measures up to the hype in every way imaginable!!

After getting it home and updating iTunes to 7.3 on my MacBook Pro, I plugged in the jewel and it sprang to life. The surge of elation flooded my very soul with such a burst that I almost fell off the sofa.

The synchronization process was painless with all contacts, calendar events, music choices, mail accounts, videos and Stargate SG-1 episodes transferring seamlessly in a few short minutes. The voicemail setup was interesting, with the actual message recorded first on the phone and transferred to the system only when saved. Once again, like all of my other Apple products, everything just WORKS. I can't say enough about how amazing this little device is and how well it has been "thought out".

Some people are concerned about the fact that this is an EDGE device instead of 3G. Why would anyone need 3G? When in range of a WiFi access point, the phone automatically connects and uses the faster connection. After a quick setup of WEP key/password, my Internet service at home, speed is not an issue...not that it ever was. After all, EDGE isn't too shabby and will usually meet the needs of most phone Internet users.

The camera is amazing. I am blown away by the clarity of the pictures and especially by the white balanced color correction. These photos are better than those of my Sony digital camera. They are easily assigned to a user as well, so the caller's picture shows up when they ring your phone.

There are so many other good things that I could say about the phone, but I suggest that you just go get one and see for yourself. As for me, I am going to go play with my iPhone now.
